Dinner at the Depot in Kennesaw

Food truck rallies have become the trendiest form of breaking bread. Not only are they a perfect excuse not to cook, but they also offer a great opportunity to spend time with your friends and neighbors dining outdoors in downtown Kennesaw. Brought to you by the Kennesaw Downtown Development Authority, the event is different every week with various activities including music, games, and inflatables for kids.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Hours of Operation: Every Monday 5 pm to 8 pm (weather permitting). Closed for some holiday weeks including Memorial Day, and Labor Day.

Type of Food: There is typically 5 to 6 trucks present representing a variety of cuisine from Philly Cheesesteak, to barbeque, to nooodles, to Southern favorites. There’s even a truck that represents farm to table goodness and at least one dessert truck present.

Special Diets: On any given night, there are usually options for gluten-free and vegetarian diners. Those with food allergies should talk to the operator of the truck before ordering. He or she should either be able to prepare a dish a special way or let you know if that isn’t possible due to ingredients used being pre-mixed before arrival.

Costs: The costs vary depending on what you order, but typcially is equivalent to what you would spend in an average dine-in pizza restaurant with the same size party.

Parking:  There is limited parking in the depot lot with additional parking in the turn-around lot behind the depot. You may also park in the public parking areas demarcated by the green public parking banners.

Dining In or Taking Out: Part of the fun is eating on site, but if you prefer, the truck operators are always glad to prepare dishes to go.

Extras: Besides enjoying the outside open air, meeting new people and having great conversations, there is entertainment on some nights which could include music, a demonstation by a local dance team or other group, the KSU cheerleaders or players and teams from local high schools. For younger children the playground is open for play and there is usually an inflatable jumpy on site for their entertainment.

What You Need To Bring: Table seating is provided at the event but if you’d prefer to bring your own chairs or picnic blanket, you are free to do so.
